F hotkey makes Everything disappears!!

HELP!!! I keep pressing the F hotkey and suddenly my whole scene disappears!!! And i have things do tomorrow! I have tried restarting everything, I uninstalled and reinstalled maya and it's still not working.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

The 'F' hotkey is usually used to focus on whatever is selected. If you select a mesh for example and press 'F' what happens?

You may also want to change your camera clipping by adding a few zeroes to the far clip plane.

1. Size of the object you try to focus.

2. Camera Clipping Planes.

I had done all that and just threw up my hands and uninstalled everything
and moved down to 2016 maya and it's now worked. so you can close this

I have this same issue. I've completely deleted my pref file and it still happens. I've started a completely new scene created just a sphere pressed F. Everything disappears. I can't manually zoom in or out to see my object. Dragging a selection box across the screen doesn't reveal the pivot tool. Everything is just gone. The only way to get back to your model is to create a new camera and view through selected. If you press F in the new camera it breaks again and your forced to create another camera... or manually move the perspective camera back to 0,0,0. Extremely annoying and needs a fix. Renders 2018 unusable... like the other user, i'm going backwards to 2017... I love Arnold renderer. Too bad such a stupid bug ruins the software so badly. Such a commonly used script...
