error when selecting the lettice

I'm running an issue on Maya 2018.5 where when i create a lattice deformer the cage does not show up and i get this error when i select it on the outliner.

select -r ffd1Lattice ;
// Error: <function selCom at 0x7f29c5c04aa0>; //
// Error: Line 1.1: Syntax error //

is it a bug? or am i doing something wrong?

Thanks for posting! Have you tried Resetting your Preferences to default? Sounds very similar to this issue, which was resolved by clearing the preferences folder 🙂
