Error occurred and cannot open paint skin weights tool settings.

Operation steps:

1. Select the mesh.

2. Click Paint Skin Weights Tool.

3. Click Tool Settings.

4. Error occurred, the error message is:

Error: file: /Applications/Autodesk/maya2018/ line 139: No object matches name: skinCluster353.matrix

I don't know what I did to somehow break the skin weight. And I cannot edit the skin weight anymore. What can I do now?

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Does this issue still occur if you try it on a new empty Maya scene?

If it's specific to one scene file, when you get a chance, can you please zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program so I can take a look at it?

Let me know if anything changes!

Encountered same problem. Solved when I closed maya and opened again.

Opening a new file didn't change anything, I had to close the whole program and reopen.
When in doubt turn it off and then turn it back on again! 🙂
