Maya 2020, Windows 10
I started with an .obj file, which I imported. I then deleted faces and other objects, and saved out as a Maya Binary.
I then opened up a different file and imported that Maya Binary into it. Beyond that, I have no idea what started this error.
Anything I click on in the Outliner produces the above error, followed by: // Error: Line 1.1: Syntax error //
I've removed my preferences folder and closed all running Maya scenes. Reopened Maya, same error. A new preferences folder was created, of course.
I've seen several past occurrences in my searches, but nothing that helped.
Some one suggested editing the file "Z:\Documents\maya\2018\prefs\workspaces\Maya_Classic.json" and removing the line: "-selectCommand \"<function selCom at 0x7f29c5c04aa0>\" ". That command was not in the file.
It was, however, in the file: "Modeling_-_Standard.json". I deleted the line, and saved. I opened Maya--same issue. I went back to that file, and the command had re-appeared. I repeated the process, only this time I re-opened the file to make sure the command was gone. It was. I then re-opened Maya. Same problem. I went back to the file and the command had re-appeared!
I'm stumped.
Any ideas?!
Thanks!
