hi all of a member of Maya community.

I'm a student who studying Maya alone.

I have some error when I opening a file.

 

it shows me

"Error : could not open command port commandportdefault because that name is in use"

 

and doesn't show my works

 

how can I fix it?

Did you check for any other running maya processes? Maybe a previous session crashed and maya.exe is still hanging around.

 

Check if there's a process using port 50007 (eg netstat -ano | findstr 50007, on Windows). That's the first port Maya will try to use as the commandPortDefault.

 

I guess you could disable the Default command port in Preferences > Applications, but that's not the best solution.

Hmm...interesting! We get this error when we start multiple instances of Maya (2016 EXT2 SP2).

 

What are the potential negative consequences of disabling the Default Command Port?
