Hi
So I've noticed an pretty annoying thing in Maya 2015. When trying to select edges in an slightly angled camera view i cant select some edges. The only egde i could select was the highlighted one as shown in the attached image.
It seems to be because of the new feature in 2015 that selects the closest edge/vert without holding the mouse over it. Its a good feature but in this case its just bad. I should be able to select anything in and angle/view without restriction.
Is there a way to disable this or change the selection size?
You can turn off pre-selection highlighting in Window->settings/preferences->settings->selection->preselection highlight tickbox...is that what you mean?
hmm no that just makes it even harder to select anything 🙂 But what i mean is that in 2015 you don't need to be near an edge with the mouse to select it. Its just chooses the closest one. But if you have long loops and camera is a bit tilted then it does not select these edges as shown in the picture attachment from the last post. This breaks the workflow and when you are working fast and makes it frustrating to select those edges and have to find a camera angle to select them without having any control over it.
With preselection highlighting off, try playing around with the "select dead space" and "tweak dead space" values. (They don't seem to have an effect when highlighting is on...)
hmm that workes a bit but still not good though. Its Still hard to select because im not able to see what will be selected x) Maybe this is a bug if its not working with the highlights ON.
I also found out that its because of the new feature called "Lazy Selection" that you are not able to precision select long edges. Sooo yea hope they fix this. Gonna send a bug report autodesk and hope they fix it.
