Custom env variables for path

With Houdini I have a bunch of env variables , so for instance when I want to use an HDRI map I use this syntax : $HDRI/086_hdrmaps_com_free.exr is there a way to do something similar (define path variables) in Maya ?
Thanks for your help

Hello,
You can set-up env variables in your ../documents/maya/2022/Maya.env file like so :

TEXTURE_LIB = E:\Ressources\Textures
HDRI = %TEXTURE_LIB %\hdr

Then in maya you can use any of those in your file path (references, textures, caches, etc..)

$HDRI\086_hdrmaps_com_free.exr
