Anyone who has issues with Maya crashing you may want to know this.   IF YOU ARE USING DUAL MONITORS THIS IS QUITE LIKELY THE REASON.    I have spent weeks trying to find a solution,   not realising that the dual monitor setup was the cause.      I havent yet worked out how to make it stable with the two monitors so far but at least now I know where to look.

I am working with two mons for a year - one horizontal, one vertical. Not that I noticed it being a problem, except for two things:

#1 - when any editor windows get minimized, those stack off-screen, impossible to restore other than calling that win anew with menu/hotkey;

#2 - sometimes, upon opening existing scene, if the Hypershade is open, Maya crashes, don't know if the texture/material thumbnail rendering is a cause or anything else in the 3rd party plug-ins (TSM3, Redshift).
