Copy,Cut,Paste reads a copy of the object into the same scene.

Help, I've been looking everywhere and I can't find any solution. Every time I try copying,cuting and pasting anything, keyframes, or any object, it creates a new group and I just want it to be the way it was, just copy and paste selected. 

The thing is, I've already uninstalled Maya 2020, installed Maya 2019, and I've even installed the program on another computer. Hotkeys seem alright, and preferences are default. 

Even if I don't use the hotkey and I click on copy,cut and paste manually it does this.

Please help, I just want Maya to work properly and copy the selected action I need, I mainly need it for animation.

Hi!

This is the default behavior in Maya and it was not never different (as far as I remember), Copy/Paste is basically an export/import process.

To duplicate objects use Edit -> Duplicate instead.

Copy/Paste is also context sensitive, so use it in the appropriate window like after selecting keys in Graph Editor and it works as expected.

You can also use Copy Keys and Paste Keys, which are different commands, maybe you had them assigned to the hotkeys (CTRL+C and CTRL+V) in Hotkey Editor previously.

Oh ok, I've been using Maya for quite a while and this never happened, which command should I assign to ctrl+v and ctrl+c so it works as usual with any object/action? I currently have a copy and paste selected.

With the default settings it already works as usual.

I don't know what your exacts steps are and what behavior you expect.

2 days ago it was copying the object and pasting it without any groups or saving the file, similar to the duplicate behavior, same thing with the keyframes, I was copying them without using the graph editor. I've even asked some peers and it works like that for them, it doesn't create any groups inside the scene.

- These are no exact steps that I can reproduce.

Without further details I can only recommend to copy the Preferences from someone where it works like you want and check them (or simply use them).
