Hello,

I've been having this problem with Maya that's seriously getting in the way of my work.

I'm a student so I constantly have to transfer files from my school computer to my home computer. I do this via Onedrive or with my USB.

The problem happens when I try to open a file I created at school on my home computer.

The mesh of whatever object is in the scene will show up as a black mess of shapes, or sometimes it just won't show up at all.

I usually save different versions of a project as I work on it and all previous version of the project have the same problem. I also can't select the mesh in the viewport, only in the outliner. If the object has an animation on it it works fine.

I don't think it's a file corruption problem as it has happened to me with multiple different files and I've sent the files to other people and the mesh looks and works fine for them. I've also opened the files on my school computer and they look fine too. This has happened on both .mb and .ma files

I'm guessing it's either a problem with Maya or with my home computer but I have no idea how to fix it.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Maya and doing a clean uninstall but nothing has worked. I have the student version of Maya 2019.2 and so do the computers at my school.

Here are my computer specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-4300M CPU @2.60GHz 2.60 Ghz

Ram: 16 GB

System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I've attached screenshots of the problem from different files.

edit: After doing some more digging, I think it's a problem with the viewport renderer as I can see the object just fine when I open Arnold. I've tried changing the renderer in perferences but no luck.
