Checker pattern doesn't appear on mesh and UV editor

 Hi everyone,

I'm currently using the Maya 2018 edition with a student license. Everything was working fine until now, but when I launched the software today and started to continue modeling for my project, I bumped into an unprecedented error. I wanted to make a UV map for my model, but I always use the checker pattern to make sure that none of my UV shells are distorted. However, It doesn't appear, even if it's ticked. My model became completely black, and so did my UVs. I've tried turning on the hardware texturing option in the Shading menu, which was suggested in another post here, but it did not solve my issue.

Thank you so much for the help in advance! All tips are very welcomeUntitled.png

Maybe you normals are inverted? Try Mesh Display/Reverse.

Hey, thanks for the quick response. Actually, I relaunched Maya, created a new project to test if there's something wrong with mine, or with the software, but the checkerboard was fine. Hence I loaded my original project, and now everything's good. I don't know what had happened, maybe Maya just a sudden temporary psychosis 🙂 By the way, I've tried the reverse normals, that was one of my guesses too, but it did not solve the issue. But anyway, it's working fine now. Thanks for the help once again. 🙂

Im having the same issue in Maya 2022. Im running this on a macbookPro. Wondering if this is an issue.
I have tried everything with regards to hardware texturing, news scene, a finished tutorial scene. I cannot even get the checker pattern to show up in the UV editor.

Anyone have any ideas? Makes it really hard to fix/create UVs when you cant see the checker pattern.
