Changing the up axis to Z

Changing the up axis to Z

Hi.

Is it safe to permanently change my up axis to Z? Are there any problems down the road that I should be aware of? The reason for asking this is because I want to start creating some content for UE4 (Z up axis), including rigged characters with EPIC's ART tools (Animation and Rigging Tools).

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome!

Changing the axis is totally fine and easy to switch back and forth on the fly so you should be fine :).

Tried googling this but no luck...

After changing world coordinates to Z-up, is there an easy way to convert a previously Y-up SCENE to match? I've tried various ways of rotating the whole scene but that doesn't seem to work completely well.

Hi @Anonymous

It's going to be a bit messy either way but the easiest way I can think of would be to combine everything and set the pivot point to the bottom of the group.

From there simply rotate it to match the new set up, freeze transformations and delete history, seperate everything and then center the pivots back to normal.
