Changing from 'Key Altered' to 'Keyed on Frame'

Hi, everyone!

I'm trying to animate a walking cycle of a character using a standard rig, created via 'Quick Rig' function.  Whenever I'm trying to key the attributes of a controller, Translate attributes get a red indication ('Keyed on Frame'), while all the rotate attributes get pink (c.  What is exactly the difference between these two statuses and how do I change an attribute from getting the 'Key Altered' (pink) status to 'Keyed on Frame' (red)?

Thanks in advance for your answers and sorry, if the question seems basic. So far I wasn't able to find help in the reference articles.

Practically speaking, the problem is that while I can set key frames for translations of toes, changing the twist (rotation) of toes results in them being twisted in all frames.

When you set a keyframe on an attribute it will turn red. Every time you're on the keyframe it will show as red. When it's pink it means that the attribute is keyframed, but on another frame.

For the twist, I might not be understanding you correctly, but if you do a rotation of 50 to twist the toes, the toes will have that rotation until you set a new keyframe where you change that value.

And this is pretty basic Maya animation stuff, I'd recommend that you try and find some animation tutorials.

Have a look at the official documentation here.

Thank you for your reply, but I was asking about something else. The pink you mentioned is a status called 'keyed off frame'', right? When an attribute is keyed on another frame, than the one we're looking at, it is shaded a darker tinge of pink. Whereas I'm asking about a situation, when some attributes turn light-pink instead of red when I try to key them for the first time. This status has then the name 'Key Altered' and normally I only see it, when I keyed an attribute and then changed it's value on the same frame again. But this time I get 'Key Altered' instead of 'Keyed of Frame' when I try to key the rotate attributes on the first keyframe. I thought these particular attributes were 'non-keyable' and seemingly changed that in the settings of the Chanel box, but it didn't help.
