Cannot find procedure "XgCreateDescription".

I came across this problem in Maya 2016 and 2017. I downloaded the xgen plug-ins, researched software and re-installed. None of these options worked. What can I do to solve this problem.

Clear your prefs and make sure the XGen plugin is loaded.

Could be more specific. Because I have tried to do this several times and it has not solved the problem.

When you say you downloaded the plugin, what do you mean?  XGen is included in the install so it doesn't need to be downloaded separately. Can you specify which version of Maya you are running? It could be that you are trying to load the plugin in a version of Maya it was not built for.

I wrote wrong, sorry. I downloaded Maya 2017 and tried to use xgen, but this error always happens. I tried to do the process you told me, but it did not work. Also I reinstalled Maya and did the process again, however the error continues. It was the same in Maya 2016.

What version of 2017? Update 3?

the plugin should load. The only reason I can think that it will not is that another 3rd party plugin you have loaded is clashing with XGen in some way.

I do not know which version it is.

Regarding other plug-ins, I do not use any third-party plug-ins.

Open the about Maya window:

Also, make sure the plug in is actually loaded:

Version: Autodesk Maya 2017. How do I upgrade.

Xgentoolkit is loaded.

Upgrading should be possible via the Autodesk Desktop App that should be installed alongside Maya. You aren't running MayaLT are you? Becuase XGen is not included in the LT version. Also, what OS are you running? Windows, linux or Mac OS?

Cheers

I'm using Maya 2017 on Windown 10. I've never used Maya LT.
