Can't see textures in Maya

Hello, I am applied a texture to a model I made in Maya but I can't see the texture. I tried the 6 key but nothing happens. Do I need to activate something maybe?  Can anybody suggets what can i do?

I'm using Maya 2011 by the way

Hi @Anonymous  and welcome to the community!

A quick test you can try is deleting your settings/preferences.

What happens if you apply a new material and tweak the color value? Can you see a change in the viewport?

Also, what kind of image are you using for your texture?
