bridge problem

I'm trying to bridge these two edges, but Maya gives me this error code. Any idea what's the problem and how can I connect them, because I realised too late that I need a face there, and I don't know how to create one after it's deleted. 

Any help will be appreciated.

The error is saying that is two different meshes. Just select both, Mesh/Combine.
