Hi Everyone!

I love working with Maya 2018.  I hate Maya when it comes to rendering.  I have been a Maya user starting with Maya 1.0 to the present.  As an indie, I am not able to use Maya due to one big and I mean big factor. Rendering Time!

Before I continue to use Maya can anyone at autodesk answer the big question. WHEN WILL ARNOLD support GPU rendering?  A simple scene can take 5-6 minutes to render v.s. (same scene 1.5 sec.) for a render engine that supports GPU rendering. I can do real work with this.

So for me, I can not afford the cost of sending work out to a render house nor do I wont to support one as a indie doing freelance work.

So the long and the short of it. Dose anyone know when Arnold will support GPU rendering?

Kind Regards,

I'm kind of in the same boat as you are. I'm looking to use GPU to save on render times. Were you able to figure anything out? If so, what rendering software have you found that works best with GPU? Thanks!

Hi poolejl1!

I did find one solution that I may go with, Redshift. Its another cost I
don't need, but may be worth it. I would suggest doing a web search on GPU
rendering solutions. You will find a lot of them.

Like Arnold, when adding 3rd party rendering engines you will need to use
there shaders, lights, and textures? Still trying to figure things out.

I did see a video for/from/about Arnold, and it seem to indicate that
Arnold may support GPU rendering in the future. No time line. Even chatted
with some form autodesk who indicated it maybe come to Maya. (No time line).

Sorry I could not be of more help. I am still learning and trying to figure
out the work flow for producing content for animation, VR, AR, VR360, and
add Unity to the mix. Still having fun.

Kind Regards,
