after having set the project folder, When importing my maya file into another maya file, all the texture path become absolute paths, how can i get them to stay as relative paths ?

after having set the project folder, When importing my maya file into another maya file, even when the new maya file is in the same folder as the original, all the texture path become absolute paths, how can i get them to stay as relative paths ?

I dont know a specific way to always keep local paths. 

but you can cut off the beginning of the paths to make them local.

or

use the file path editor to quickly batch edit all the paths in your scene
