Hey there guys,
Been using Maya for a while now here, our studio currently is on the subscription based system. We were forced to update to 2017 and it's been a painful transition with the Undo command having a 1-2 second delay for every use. When we were using 2016 before I didn't have any issues with it. Hopefully there's some sort of setting perhaps that I missed? It may sound nit picky but when you're mass modelling a ton of assets throughout the day it's extremely frustrating to deal with.
We are also having issues with Hotkey profiles always defaulting to Maya default instead of our own custom hotkey profiles. Hopefully there's some kind of solution that dosent require a ton of jury-rigging maybe.
I'm also noticing they put in another feature for a new unfold 3D and layout UV, but it is extremely slow for both new features and I'm using legacy. I'm worried that using legacy means it'll be cycled out at some point and we'll be stuck with the new slower tools. I find I am rapidly using the layout UV button until a layout works nicely... The delay on the new tool makes that extremely frustrating to work with. Hopefully again... Is there a better way in using that tool? Even for super super simple geometry it takes a while to process. The only other artist in the studio is having the exact same problem and delay.
We are using windows 10, 64 bit. 970 GTX nvidia and 32 GB of ram if that helps. As a side note, 2016 was working perfectly fine with these tools. Undo was instant, and the unfold and layout tools were working speedy and fine (They work fine IF I switch them to legacy).
Also is there a way to remove those default shelves? There is so much unnecessary junk that I want to just wipe out, as I'm only doing modelling in the program.
Thanks for any help on this! Been really frustrating dealing with some major slowdowns/hiccups with these tools.
3. Unfold: I will look into that issue now and as soon as I tested it on my system I will let you know.
Best, Nadja
