2016 / 2018 LT Crashing

Mac OS Mojave installed (Beta) - was working fine but when I go to change an objects material the program crashes.

I downloaded the trial of Maya LT and the same thing happened - click to change shader and program crashes.

Deleted and reinstalled, and same thing happened.

Get an error pop-up each time.

Hi @gary

Mojave is not officially supported on our system requirements and is most likely the reason you are seeing these issues.

You can find our certified system requirements here!

Would it help if I uploaded a log? I can’t go back to an earlier operating system, and I’m sure a lot of people will want to use the latest when it’s released in 4 days.

It only happens when changing materials…

Hi @gary

Sure a crash log is always helpful and if an error report is generated please submit it to Autodesk and let me know what the CER Report number is.

I'm more than happy to look into the log to see if there is a simple fix but when working with operating systems that aren't officially supported we can't guarantee that you won't run into any problems.

Great thanks, here’s the same error using a trial of Maya LT. Again I simply had to assign a new material and immediately the program crashes.

Fixed it, sort of. In Privacy settings (Mojave) Maya wants to have access to the ‘computer’ and if I permit that then the problem is solved, however I’m not sure why the program needs access.

It may have been a change with Mojave to increase security, and the program crashes without permitting access.

Interestingly it appears Maya 2017 had a similar error which caused it to crash when assigning a material.

Hi @gary

Thanks for attaching the CER report number!

I looked it up and its linked to a defect in Smoke oddly enough from Yosemite OS. Therefore I can tell you that this is only happening because Mojave is not supported.

The workaround you found with the settings/privacy options is a good one and is most likely an issue because QA and our devs have not got around to this yet. I'm sure once they're are able to work with it and/or when 2019 comes out in the near future the system requirements will be updated.
