xgen popping AGAIN!

same old same old, only this time really can't find a fix....

have a rigged character, the scalp is geo that's wrapped to the rigged character.

Several grooms making up the hair but this one is popping, always on the same frame

cached the curves out to alembic..same workflow that works all the time

there's nothing weird in the cached guide curves, no jumping or excess movement... but when the hair renders (or playblasts) there is a noticable jump where the hair moves

really need to get this rendered for delivery this week! any ideas?

Are you able to upload the scene file?

I suspect the issue is coming from the head collision and/or collision on the hair root.  You can turn on the Solver Display of your collider and see what's happening on that specific frame.

the hair is set to collide with the rigged head, not the scalp... but also thought this might be the problem.. so i painted a collision map to exclude the top of the head... made no difference 😞

i'll take a look at the solver display (hadn't thought of that)

in the meantime i moved a couple of the guide hairs away from the scalp edge/forehead (which is where the popping was most noticeable) and re-simmed/cached the curves and this has fixed it

thanks
