What is size of a point particle

When we create a particle emitter and set it to points. Then what how big a point is? What is the size of a point partile. I'm guessing that it is a pixal big. Tell me if I'm right and correct me if I'm wrong.

You can adjust the size of the point under nParticleshape / Shading / point size.

Depending on you setting, the size of the point particle will change.
