Shatter effect error message

I keep getting this error message every time I use the Shatter effect. 

"Am error occurred while running the Solid Shatter script. Results may be invalid. If necessary, undo to restore the previous situation."

I'm no sure what I am supposed to do to get it to work. My shape does not have a history, but even when I delete the history I still get the same error message...

Please upload a scene-file with the object that doesn't work with the shatter effect.

The shatter effect just doesn't work very well.  To get decent shattering you will need to use a plugin like fracture fx (No I don't work for them!)

Maya employees if you're listening how about fixing this???
