Hi,
I'm creating fluffy clouds in Maya 2017 and want to add fractal details to an Aero simulation using volume noise to mask out Bifrost Aero Materials density scale attribute.
Just connecting a volume noise to the density scale seems to only affect the density as a whole.
I've learned from a tutorial on Lynda.com (Aero from Maya 2016) that I need to factor in the existing volumes density, but it uses a Bifrost Scalar Channel for Mental Ray (I'm using Arnold). From this tutorial on bifrost liquid I should be able to use an aiUserDataFloat node to grab the density from the Aero solver. I've checked using the following mel command: 'getAttr aero1.availableVoxelChannels;' it returns 'density smoke smoke_distance temperature transition velocity' channels.
What am I missing? Is there a way to get density data in Maya 2017 and/ or apply textures to an aero simulation.
Any help would be immensely appreciated! (I'm using Maya 2017 update2 on Mac Pro)
Cheers,
Øyvind
