Making interactive groom guides dynamic fails

I have my rig done (i used the advanced skeleton plugin to do it) and I did the hair using interactive groom splines. The hair is growing directly from my body mesh, because when I used a scalp mesh wrapped to the body mesh, moving the head joint would break the rig. So i just selected some faces on the body mesh and created splines on that. However, when I select the body mesh and then hit 'make guides dynamic' it fails. Only when I uncheck 'collide with mesh' does it succeed. But if I uncheck that option, then I don't know how to make it so that the hair doesn't collide with the face. I tried making it a rigid body and a passive collider, neither of which worked. I even tried creating a separate shape to go around the face and making that a rigid body/passive collider - which again, didn't work; the hair still intersects the mesh. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated - trying to get ahead on thesis.tb.png

for anyone wondering, I found the solution: definitely use a scalp mesh for attaching the splines to, but DON'T wrap deform them to the body mesh! parent the scalp mesh to a joint or handle instead and dynamics will work great

This 'solution' of parenting is hardly a solution for those who have a mesh that moves. Parenting does not allow for the mesh to conform to the object associated with the mesh. And in the case of a beard, this means that the dynamics look terrible.

I just had luck with deleting the wrap, then creating dynamics, then redoing the wrap from scratch
