Making changes to keys in graph editor, does not affect viewport.

I am animating a rig in maya, this issue has occurred for me in Maya 2024, and also now Maya Creative. When I make changes to the key's values in viewport, by manually clicking on the rig, those changes are immediately updated in graph editor, as I can see the keys' values change in real time. However, when I make changes to the keys in graph editor, whether simple tranforms or moving keys to different frames, those changes do not affect the values in viewport, hence, my rig doesn't move. Also when I try to move the keys in graph editor, the curves get real "screwy" and dont follow the selected curve type, though they dont even affect my rig in viewport. I also cannot set curves to infinite cycles either. I have scoured forums online in an attempt to troubleshoot, but cannot solve this issue. I appreciate your help in advance.

Hello,

I tried to reproduce this with a primitive and with a rig and could not.   Would you be able to provide more details.  What OS are you using? Would it be possible to have a copy of the rig that shows the bug?  You wrote "the curves get real "screwy" - can you show a screen shot of what you  mean. More precise step-by-step repro steps would help as well.

Regards,
Kelly

Hello, thank you for your response. I am using a mac i7, 32GB, w a AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB. The pictures shown, are the "before" and "after" of moving the curves in the graph editor. The main issue is, that even while moving those curves drastically in the graph editor, my rig didn't move at all, and doesnt react to anything done in the graph editor. However, when I manually move and set keys on the rig in the viewport, by clicking on the controls in viewport, the graph editor updates and reflects those changes. Its just when i work in graph editor, those changes don't affect my rig. I have worked in maya for many years and I have never seen such a work stopping, weird issue.

Can you reproduce this with an animated sphere?   Would I be able to get your rig?  I need to be able to reproduce this locally in order to show it to the dev team.  You can send me a private message and I'll give you my email address.

Hello, I appreciate you looking into this further. I sent you a private DM with a google drive link to the rig. When I loaded a basic sphere, the issue was not occurring and the graph editor was functioning properly. So its good to know that its at least isolated to the rig. Please let me know if I need to send rig via email or if you need any additional information. I appreciate it.

Has nobody figured out a fix for this yet? I'm having the same issue and there's like 30 threads on dozens of websites, and none of them have resolutions.

I'm also having a similar issue. I'm using the HumanIk rig that comes default in maya 2024.

The Viewport also doesn't show any changes to the Translation or Rotation made in the Channel Box, but it seems to depend on if the Blend Parent Attribute is On or Off...

If On, then there are no issues, but if Off, then the Viewport doesn't show changes...

It should be noted however, that the Graph Editor doesn't work despite the Blend Parent Attribute being On or Off...

Hi everyone,

I see that in the last post, the HIK rig was mentioned.  If you select a controller on an HIK rig, you can move it in the Viewport, however edits made in the Channel box will not affect the controller in the Viewport. This is the expected behaviour.  HIK Rig controllers work together with many other elements to control the rigged character the way they do.  I suppose selecting the controller and editing in the channel box is affecting only the controller, but not the dependencies.  Anyway, this workflow has never been supported.

You can, however, set the rig back to a 0 position or t-stance, by clicking this option in the Character controls:

Hope this helps.

Why is not possible? It seems like it should be...
