When rigging/parenting eyes to head bone the eyes do not move with the head.

Hi i am trying to human ik my character but want to parent the eyes to to head bone as they have an eye control to make the iris and pupil move. However when creating the control rig the eyes rotate but don't stay in the area for the eye. I am not sure if it is a paint weights issue or I need to use a different type of parent or anything else. So any help would be great.
