Timing and Motion Paths

I have an object on a motion path with about 20 keyframes and the length of the animation is about 900 frames long. I decided at the end of my animation I wanted to make the path a little longer. For example, if I had an animation of a ball bouncing on a path. Then I decided at the end of the animation instead of the ball just stopping, I want it to slide, but I didn't add that to my path yet. When I drag the edit point at the end of the path to make the path longer it evenly distributes the keyframes. This makes me have to go back and retime my whole animation. Is there any way that I can extend the path without it evenly distributing the keyframes and just add the rest of the time to the end of the path. If I didn't explain this correctly just let me know and I'll do my best to further explain.
