Rotation tool is giving me a hard time

I have a very simple task to but I can't and that is driving me insane. I simply need to rotate an object, I know, stupid that I am having a problem with this but that is the truth. So here is my problem.

I have an object that is not straight in my workspace but it has 0 on the transformation.

I need to turn this knob on this sound mixer for a shot that I am working on. I CANT 😞

I tried to change the pivot point and then turning it. See the image below.

The pivot point is in the right place and it will indeed turn, but not when I animate it. This will happen when I play the animation.

My object will turn on all axes.

I have tried to select a custom pivot point as I did in the example above. I also tried to change the axis orientation in the rotation tool but that didn't work either.

Hi!

Try

Modify -> Bake Pivot

after you changed pivot orientation.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about this button. Good to know but I'm still having this problem.

Here is a screen recording.

Hi!

Thanks for the video, it can't work this way.

You need to orient (CTRL) the pivot to the top face or vertex, before Baking Pivot, so you only need to use one axis for rotation.
