Rigging Trouble

I placed the joints into the model and when I go to skin both the skeleton and model together, I keep getting this error. I did this once before and I was able to get the skeleton and the model skinned but when I saved the file, the error show up after I closed and opened the file. I also delete optimize scene size options and delete all type of history.

Hi!

This Error only shows up if there are no joints selected when you try to skin an object.

Are you using a HIK rig?

When rigging with HIK, the FK controls look like joints, so you need to make sure that you really select the joints and not the FK Controlls.

Yes, I am using HIK rig. It works now. If I run into another error like from above it is just to click the joints and nothing else. Right?

exactly, it's best if you select the joints in the outliner, because there you have the Icon that tells you what is a joint and what isn't. And then you just select the joints and the geometry.

@Kahylan

Thank you for solving the rigging problem. Everything is all rigged and working properly except for one thing. The one thing that won't rig along with the model is the hair. I am using nhair and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the nhair to rotate alongside the model.

I don't know how your nHair setups looks like, so this is a complete guess...

But nHair normally follows a separate piece of geometry calles a "geo cap". If you want your nHair to follow the Rig, you have to make the geo cap follow the rig as well. In most cases all you need to do is to either skin the geo cap to the head joint or shrinkwrap teh geocap to the main geometry. Once the geo cap follows correctly, the hair should also be fiine.
