Rigging FPS arms to a different animation

Hello. My name is Jonathan. I have been attempting to rig a certain set of First Person Shooter arms to a different series of weapon animations. I own both the animations and the arms I'd like to rig to said animations. The problem I am having is binding the arms mesh to the animation. I have tried everything I can think of! I have tried using Motion Builder, Maya and 3DS Max, but to no avail... Could anyone please point me in the right direction, because my game design project is at a stand still at the moment until I figure this out.

delete.png First I remove the original arms mesh.

move.pngThen I have tried moving the new arms down from their rig and merging them to the other animation, but have had no success.

 

 

 

How.png So how would I do this exactly? Maybe merge both rigs together? Or just the mesh? Oh and the new arms rig has no animation, the other shotgun rig does.
