Rigging a rope for Unity physics

There are some similar posts to this but not quite what I'm after.
I want to make a physics based wire/cord to use in Unity, it would have plugs at both ends that you can pick up and put in sockets, all I want the wire to do is move around with physics in between the 2 plugs.

So I'd want a solid looking cylindrical object (not those segmented jointed cube ropes done in unity), that moves with physics, most say use rigging to do this, but im still pretty new to MAYA so dunno where to start to achieve this?
