Pose Editor Creates Double Transform with New Pose

When creating a new pose using the Pose Editor in 2018.2, I'm encountering a bug. When I push the button to create a new pose, that new pose contains the deformations from the skin deformer (so it looks like a double transform). Any thoughts on how to solve this?

Hi @MisterVal

Is there any history on the model that might be causing this?

Also, when you get a chance can you please zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program so I can take a look at it?

If the file is confidential or under NDA please send it to me in a private message.

No construction history that might be causing problems... It's even easy to repro in a fresh scene. I'm attaching one here to demonstrate.

Note that the joints are keyed to show the effect. There is no sculpting on the corrective pose -- that's what Maya created when I initially made the pose.

Hi @MisterVal

I did some testing on 2018 with Update 3 and had no issues so you may want to try updating.

Also, I noticed what can cause this type of issue is if you parent the joints to the mesh and skin then you will get double transforms so you may want to check to see if that's the case with your set up.

Finally, when you get a chance can you upload a video of this happening so I can add it to our log with this issue?

If you need a video capturing program, Screencast is a great option that we use here at Autodesk

Hi Sean,

Sorry for the slow response. I did upgrade to 2018.3 and I'm still having the same issue. My joints and skin are separated hierarchically -- the double transform is definitely coming from the pose deformer. I'm attaching a video showing how to reproduce this issue (sorry for the air conditioner noise!).

Did you check the repro file that I uploaded the other day?

Hi @MisterVal

Thanks for providing the video of the issue!

I just tried this again and still had no issues. A quick fix you can try is deleting your settings/preferences.

Please let me know if anything changes!

Hi Sean,

Deleting my preferences does seem to have resolved the issue. Thanks for your help!

Chiming in to say that just rolling back pluginPrefs.mel inside the prefs folder fixed it for me.
