Painting weights on 2 very small stubborn verts...

I need to paint the weights of two verts to cling to the middle back. These verts are on arrows that are stuck in a quiver. The quiver is painted to one back joint, as are the top of the arrows. However, the tips of the arrows are painted to the clavical.

I went into the component editor to try to weight them manually to the back, but in the CE, in smooth skins, they are weighted (1.0) to the clav. I know how to weight a vert to different bones if the CE lists them at the top, but since these verts are only weighted to the clav I don't have the option to set the clav weight to 0 and the back joint as 1. And, obviously, I don't know how to manually add the joint I need into the CE to weight it to 1 and kill the influence on the clav to 0.

I tried massively increasing my clip plane to zoom in, doesn't work. The paint weights brush just will NOT pick these verts up. See picture

Thanks,

Kenny

Have you tried selecting both verts and then opening the CE?

I can't seem to recreate your problem. It works on mine.

I got it fixed by clicking 1000 times until the brush picked up the verts (or poly's, not sure which).

But yes, as I stated I have the verts selected and opened in the CE. However, they are weighted to the clavical, not the middle back. Therefore, all I can do is weight them off* the clavical, but not onto the middle back. I don't know how to get the CE to show/display the Middle Back joint.

In your image you have 2 joints in your CE, so all you have to do is weight one joint at 0, and the other at 1. However, let's say I want them to be weighted to Joint2, I can't set the weight on Joint2 to 1.0 because the CE is *only displaying Joint1. So I can weight Joint1 at 0, but there is no display for Joint2 in the CE.

Regardless, if you check my image, I can select the verts with shift select or by just clicking on them, but the paint brush of the Paint Weights tool would just not pick them up. I think it's because I was trying to paint the verts, and not the polygons. I'm not sure.

In the end, if you do have a solution on how to manually add a joint to the CE so I can manually weight verts (in the future) that'd be really awesome. Otherwise, opening the CE just shows what the verts are weighted to, nothing about how to add influence on unweighted joints.

...I hope my rambling made sense.
