nCloth keeps flying away when animated

I'm trying to make a scene with the USS Monitor. I've added two flags to it, made the two flagpoles passive colliders, made the two flags ncloths, and added point to surface constraints between each flag and its respective pole. I've then grouped everything together so that it all moves together when I animate it. Problem is, when I move the ship across my scene, the flags fly forward as though they weren't attached to anything. This doesn't happen if I don't move the ship forward but still animate everything. I've looked all over for solutions and I'm still not sure what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?

You can skin the flag to move it as the ship moves,

then create a copy of the flag and unlock its channels,

then create ncloth to it

then select the cloth and then the skinned cloth and apply a constrain called "attach to maching mesh " in nconstrains,

then hide the skinned cloth,

select the cloth mesh and paint the strength of the constrain by " nconstrain > paint properties by vertex map  > strenth ".
