Maya Two Handed sword Constraining issue

Hi, I'm relatively new to Maya and Im currently having an issue with constraints and character references. I defined this control rig using Maya Human IK and I've been using it to animate, Im currently trying to create a two handed animation where the right hand drives the sword and the sword drives the left hand pretty much, I followed this tutorial: (37) Autodesk Maya Parent Constraints Tutorial for Two-handed Sword/Weapon | HOW 2 ANIMATE - YouTube and it didn't seem to work as it always gave me this warning: " 'Character1_Ctrl_LeftWristEffector.worldMatrix[0]' may not evaluate as expected."

and when I tried to move the right arm Maya would crash and if it didn't crash it would deform the mesh terribly and simply doesn't work. When I restarted it longer crashes but it just doesn't work at all even moving the pointer created does nothing to the left arm.

Here is my scene and here is what I'm trying to make, I'm aware that Maya is weird with constraining references but I have no idea how to fix this and I'm extremely new to rigging, any suggestions/help would be great!
