Hello,
I have been trying to rig and skin my characters. However, at some point, the character loses it skin to the skeleton.
In the attribute editor, the skin is still there. I'm not sure what I'm doing that causes this but am interested in finding out. Right now, this issue happened to my first character, once I rigged my second character. This issue has also happened when I close and re-open a file.
Another thing that happens is, if I happen to move along the timeline the skeleton snaps like in the second image. Is this normal?
Make sure you do not have double skincluster in your mesh. If you have no problem can you upload your scene file here?
I must have seen it wrong. In the file I was talking about right now the girl character no longer has a skin cluster, but the skeleton has one. Does a skeleton delete itself when I created a new one?
I went back to an older save, before I had made a skeleton for the bunny. And the skin cluster is present in the girl model, however, the skin is similar but not the same as before. If I scroll in the timeline the pose also changes and when I scroll back it never returns to what it was. And If I change any control it snaps like in the second photo.
The rig is too intricate not an animator friendly rig. There are more than one skinclusters. In this file what is the exact problem?
I'm not trying to animate. I'm just trying to pose the two characters.
-The girl character lost her skin when I rigged the bunny character. I don't understand why.
When I go to an older file:
-The girl character's skin is not the same as it was before. When I close and re-open a file the skin is similar but it's not the same.
-When I move along the timeline the female character moves and no longer moves back to the original pose, even though I have keyframes but in place.
-When I try to move one of the controllers the female character snaps and turns into what is seen in the second image.
You lost the girl character skin cause of more than one skinclusters present in the scene. The full girl character should have one skincluster and if the bunny is a different character then bunny should have one skincluster. There should have to be two skinclusters for two characters and the controllers have not proper functions. I do not know what the character skin was before. Delete all skinclusters and all keyframes and start skinning what I said above
How do I create different skin clusters? I just created one skin and then the other one separately. Shouldn't it automatically create different skin clusters?
-I have re-skinned all the characters (they now have diferent skin cluster names). I noticed that If I rigged and skinned the girl. and then rigged and skinned the bunny. The girl would loose the skin. Is this normal?
Also, when I rig the girl, then the bunny, and then skin them all without changing the rig anymore, it works. However, just now I had to alter the girl's belt. So I removed the skin only on the belt and made the necessary alterations. However, all the other objects lost their skin.
Is this normal? Am I not understanding the workflow?
-Am I supposed to first rig all characters and only then skin all of them? And then If I move the rig or unskin something I'll loose all of the skin information in all objects?
-Am I supposed to rig characters in separate files, thus preventing this easy deleting of skins?
