Maya keeps freezing when selecting controls on Rig

Every time I select a control on a Rig, Maya freezes for a couple of minutes. Once it unfreezes I can do what I want, but if I click off and then back on the same control or another one, it freezes again. It does't freeze any other time and it's doing it for all Rigs I try to animate with.

I've wiped my computer, updated to Windows 10, downloaded the new 2016 version, made sure it was up to date but it's still happening.

I re-downloaded the Rig to see if that was the problem but it still does it. 

I'm at a loss, any ideas?

There was an issue a while back where people were experiencing similar issues, and the workaround was to disable Auto key in the Preferences->Settings->Animation section...but I thought they had fixed that. Maybe worth a try, anyway.

Also...Autodesk isn't supporting Windows 10 yet, so they might not consider that part of the correct troubleshooting process.

Thank you for the reply! So I checked the setting it was already disabled. I also reset my computer back to Windows 8 and it's still doing the same thing. I tried the 2015 version as well, but everytime I tried to open my file it crashed Maya.

In Maya 2016, Try switching to the legacy high quality viewport instead of viewport 2.0...that may improve the responsiveness.

I have the same problem. I created a rig with advanced skeleton, and anytime I manipulate certain controls like feet or face controllers it freezes after a few seconds. Autokey is off, legacy viewport on. As for video cards, I don't know if that matters but I have 3 of those gtx 970 installed in a row, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I would appreciate any help with this issue.

I know this is an old topic, however I am currently facing a similar issue in Maya 2017. I've tested other rigs and they appear fine, however using a particular one causes random crashing upon manipulating any control. 

Is there any guidance on this topic?
