Maya Displays Messed Up Animation in Viewport

Anonymous
Not applicable

[Maya 2019.1 | Viewport 2.0 & Arnold with Default Settings]

It displays that much wrong that you might punch the screen in fear of losing everything. BUT actual Animation is intact. it display geometry OVERLAPS, invisibility, delays, stuck geometry. It's not lagging but something else.

Tried "Shading > Bounding Box". doesn't affect.

Even though there is no deformation applied. Everything has just XYZ translate animation. (mechanical animation)

Looks intact in Playblast & Render, but not in Viewport!

Anyone ever faced this problem?

Hi!

Please try switching Evaluation Mode ("Parallel" vs "DG") in Preferences.

If this solves the problem, please report this problem (bug?) to Autodesk.
In Maya main menu:
Help -> Speak Back -> Report a Problem

For further help, please upload a scene-file.

@mspeer

Switching Evaluation Mode ("Parallel", "DG", "Serial") in Preferences doesn't work.

DG ruins even more.

Autodesk tech support recently gave me a workaround for not having legacy viewports in Maya 2019. If you go to documents/maya/2019 and open the maya.env file in notepad, enter this:

MAYA_ENABLE_LEGACY_VIEWPORT=1

Then save and open Maya 2019 and you should be able to choose old viewports.
(This will also bring back performance settings from the windows/settings menu that can allow for things like disabling blendshapes temporarily if you wish.)

Hope this helps!
