IK spine rigging help Maya 2016

So first time rigging and running into major issues with the IK spline not being connected. Or more correctly, losing it. I have been mostly following the Autodesk Maya learning channel but I don't need any of the advanced things.

 

So, I had it working ok as you can see from this the 1st screen shot. I then moved onto the arms and started putting in IK handles and then went to test and my spine doesn't work anymore. I have sat and compared the outliner and they both look the same. Is there maybe any other way to check what's connected and what isn't?

 

Any help would be great as this needs rigged for uni deadline in a few days.

For the issue of connection to objects use Hypergrah; Connections or you might use node editor, select an object and Click Input and output Connections icon
