HumanIK rig fingers breaking and changing orientation

Hello. I appear to be having a problem with the HumanIK rig. Whenever I save/load the fingers in my model mess up and break. I set it so that there is one less finger and one less joint in all the fingers but even keeping the extra joints seems to yield the same results.

This is what it looks like after binding skin and after reloading the skin. Keep in mind I haven't changed anything except for weight painting.
Another problem I have is that the axis of the finger joints will randomly change after doing something entirely different. Like I'll be weight painting or (before binding skin) I'll mirror the hand joints over and it will completely mess up the joints rotations. Doesn't matter how many times I fix the rotations they'll just mess up again. Any help would be appreciated.
