How to? Exploded view- model parts

Hello!

My goal is to create an exploded view of an object with several meshes (e.g. the single parts of a controller moving away from each other to reveal what parts it's made of, like the attached picture).
It's really easy in Blender with the copy location constraint, so I was looking for something similar in Maya, but both point and parent constraints don't allow for partial weight values, resulting in the single meshes moving in unison.

I've found out about Mash and tried setting the Network to initial state in distribute with an added ID node for the number of objects. But further steps either with an explosion or offset node didn't yield the results I was hoping for.

There must be a way instead of manual keyframe animation no?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hi!

The point and Parent constraint allow partial weight values, but only if you have two or more parent objects.

1) Select the top object first, then the bottom mesh

2) Then select each of your meshes, one after the other, separately and use "Constrain -> Parent" on each of them.

3) select all the resulting parent constraints in the hierarchy and change theirt weight values (lowest 0.1/0.9, next object 0.2/0.8, next object 0.3/0.7  ...) adjust the weights for how much you need it to move ofcourse.

4) move the top object upwards

I hope it helps!
