detach your geometry from the bones,  do your bone connection, and re-attach the geometry to the bones.

Your question is kind of vague. It sounds like you have a body mesh that is already skinned to a skeleton and you want to add a new bone to the skinCluster without affecting the skinning that was already done. If that's what you want to do this is how you do it:

  1. Select the new joint
  2. Hold shift and select the the body mesh (so both the joint and mesh are selected)
  3. In the menu go to skin > edit influences (near the bottom of the list) > add influence (and click on the white box next to the text to open up the options for adding an influence)
  4. Turn off "use geometry" and turn on "lock weights"
  5. Press "add" at the bottom of the options window.

Then you will need to add influence to the new joint using the paint skin weights tool just like you normally would.

@yrbena you need to be more specific about what you are trying to accomplish, and what issue you are encountering. Saying "it didn't work" isn't going to help me to understand what problem you are encountering. Saying that "the body curved" is still very vague. Could you send the scene? Or do a screen recording showing your issue?

It's quite easy (when you do it often you script it!):

  • select your skinned object

  • skin>go to bind pose

  • skin>detach skin (optns) -> keep history

  • move your bone(s)

  • select bones

  • skin>smooth bind you object
