I have a ton of frames in a 20 sec animation. Now I need a little more space somewhere in the middle, and I select all frames after this point in time and move them. This freezes maya. Or it simply takes so long, and I haven't waited long enough. Too much for my computer 😞
I decide to write +=10 in the stats box in graph editor. I figure it costs less to move frames directly, because scrubbing the timeline while all keys are selected is ridiculously performance heavy
That's when I get the error. Error: line 1: Cannot move keys
But using math in the stats box works on simple cubes and stuff when I test it. So I don't understand why it errors out for me...
and frankly... WHY, MAYA? Why is it so incredibly difficult for you to just move tons of frames forward or backwards? Even if they're many, it's not like the animation changes so what are you working on, maya? It's just a timestamp, isn't it? Why does it eat performance?
