I'm using Maya 2016. My issue is that when exporting an fbx the max influence of a skincluster changes from 4 to 5. There's no option for max influence in the fbx export settings and Bind Skin default is set to 4. Where can I change the max influence value for the fbx export?

can you tell me more about your workflow and perhaps provide a small sample scene?
I tested it with Maya 2016 Extension 1 SP6. I have a Max Influence of 5. When I export it as fbx and import it in May again I still have the same Influence value.

Here's an example that replicates the case Anne mentioned.
The original skinCluster has a maximum of four influences in Maya, but after exporting to an FBX and importing it back, the skinCluster clearly has a maximum of five. In fact, the maximum in the FBX always appears as five, no matter what the original value was.
