Export Weight Maps. 0 values are Grey?

Hi everybody, I'm having a problem with a character I've skinned the past 5 days. I want to alter the skeleton and therefore export my weightmaps and import them back once I'm done. The maps export without any error though if you look at the maps you see that values that are supposed to be black are grey, which prevents me from getting a clean import.
the skinning method I used is weight blended. I feel like that's the problem though if I set it to classic linear it still comes out wrong. Also I'm exporting 4k IFF files.

I hope somebody can help me out with this.
