Crashes constantly when rendering a file that has a referenced character

Hello,

I've seen several posts about Maya 2018, student version, crashing and several people have put solutions that work for them but I haven't been able to figure out why mine keeps crashing.  I took some time off of Maya due to health issues and such but I started again last year.  I was able to create some new models and little animations without a problem.

Now, I am trying to update a project I started in 2008.  I referenced in the model of a character into an animation file in this project.  So when I open the model file and render, it works just fine but if I open the animation file with the referenced file and try to even just render the frame it asks to save several times then immediately crashes...  I am not sure what is happening... It is very frustrating because I just really want to finally finish this project finally.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a MacBook pro with i7, 16gb Ram, model 11,3, High Sierra

Thank you

I opened the file and there are missing references, extra transform nodes that do not appear to be used, scene needs to be optimized and your main control curve is not at zero.   I didn't look at your construction history.

My suggestion is that you clean up first.  Then import your references into a single template file and then reference this new, clean template file for your animation.

Once you do that, you may also experience MAC-specific issues - if so, consider do a search for work-arounds.
