Cracks appear in model when animating

Hi all,

I have a humanoid model that I did not create, but received without a rig.  I have tried rigging it with both Quick Rig and HumanIK, and in both instances there are cracks (like the model splits and there is a hole) when I move it using the skeleton.

I thought this might be because of duplicate vertices, so I tried running the Edit Mesh -> Merge tool before rigging but the issue still persisted.

I am a programmer so I am not greatly experienced in this area.  What kind of issues could be causing this?

Hi!

The idea with Edit Mesh -> Merge was correct.

If it does not work, please upload a scene-file for further help.

Hi

Thanks for your reply!

Turns out I was being very silly.  The model top mesh was actually multiple meshes (hence the cracking).  I did a quick check of the model and assumed it was one mesh, but I was wrong.  I combined them and then ran merge.
