Collapsing Geometry While Animating Rig

Hey all,

I've got a free horse rig that I'm animating currently for class, and I've run into a problem. It's a nice rig, but 'm animating a horse rearing up and I've found that if you lift or pull a leg past a certain height, it twists/collapses. It wouldn't be a problem if it was maybe much higher up, but I can barely lift the leg as I need. Any suggestions?? Pictures included. I have adjusted every other rig around it and tried everything I know to try and fix it, but nothing has helped. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would appreciate a reply, I need the animation done for class within 3 days. 😕

Second photo is about how high it can go without twisting, first photo is what happens to both front legs if above a certain point.

it looks like a problem with the pole vectors. Grab that front knee controller and raise it up to be more in line with the leg, that should fix it.
