Can't Create Empty Layer in Anim Layer Editor - Maya 2016

Hi all,

I'm working through a guide on animating with layers and for some reason no matter if I push the Create Empty Layer button or click Layers>Create Empty later, nothing happens in the Layer Editor.  Anyone know why?

Secondly, all the guides show a red button for ghosting with a small man on it, but my buttons show 5 dots in an arc instead.  Was the Ghosting button updated for 2016? Maybe my options are off - but I can't seem to find out where. Attached is the ghosting button image.

Any help on this would be great, I can't continue with the tutorial until I figure this out.

I figured it out that I hadn't selected "All Layers" under Show>All Layers in the Layer Editor. All 46 of the new layers I had placed miraculously appeared once I checked that.  That solves that one!

I still haven't been able to confirm if I'm not using the right ghosting button or if it's changed. If anyone reads this please let me know!
